Body of man pulled from Maryhill canal by police divers

The body of a man has been pulled from the Maryhill canal.

Specialist police diving teams recovered the 31-year-old on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the canal side of Cowal Road around 6pm on Wednesday, June 17, following reports of a man entering the water.

The body was later recovered by Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit.

Emergency services cordoned off part of the canal, with the Scottish Ambulance Service and fire crews also on the scene.

A spokesman for Police Scotland : "Police were called to the canal side at Cowal Road, Maryhill, Glasgow, around 6pm on Wednesday, 17 June, following a report of a man having entered the water.

"The body of a 31-year-old man was subsequently recovered by the Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
