Body of man in his 60s found after police called to car park

A man in his 60s has been pronounced dead in Walkden after emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare.

Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service rushed to a car park on Manchester Road, at around 10.30pm yesterday evening, Friday March 19.

The crew, alongside officers from Greater Manchester Police, were called to the scene, near Lynneshawe Mill, after someone expressed concern for someone's wellbeing.

Despite their best efforts, a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called at around 10.30pm yesterday, Friday March 19, to a concern for welfare on Manchester Road, Worsley.

"Emergency services attended and, despite the best work of paramedics, a man aged in his 60's was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the coroner."
