Body of man found on South Coast identified

A man whose body was found on the South Coast near Jervis Bay on Wednesday morning has been identified.

NSW police say the man, who was discovered floating face down in water at a home in St Georges Basin, was a 32-year-old. It's believed he had been staying with relatives before his death.

The man's body was discovered behind a home off Island Point Road about 9am Wednesday.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and officers are trying to discover the man's final movements between 2am and 9am on Wednesday.

The man has been described as Caucasian, about 170 centimetres tall and having short-brown hair. He was found wearing dark pants, blue shoes and black long sleeves with circular symbols on the front and rear shoulder.

A report will be prepared for the coroner. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police are investigating the circumstances behind the 32-year-old man's death.
