Body of man found near Scots army barracks as police probe death

A police investigation has been launched after the body of a man was discovered near a Scots army base.

Officers were initially called following concerns for a person on a road next to Kinloss Barracks in Moray on Sunday morning.

The B9011 between Findhorn and Kinloss was temporarily closed while a large police cordon was put in place.

Police and army members were seen standing guard near a tarpaulin sheet which was erected within the grounds on the military base.

CID officers were also pictured at the scene as their enquiries got underway.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a man has tragically died.

They are currently treating his death as unexplained.

A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has been discovered by Kinloss Barracks on the B9011 between Findhorn and Kinloss.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries into the matter are at an early stage.”
