Body of man found near Ayrshire railway line

The body of a man has been found near a railway line in Ayrshire.

British Transport Police and paramedics were called to line near in the early hours of yesterday morning at around 3am after reports of a casualty close to the tracks.

As a result of the incident ScotRail services between Girvan and Stranraer were cancelled for a couple of hours.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to the area in Girvan following reports of a casualty close to the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however a 36-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be made to the Procurator Fiscal."
