Body of man found in water in Strathclyde Country Park

The body of a man has been found in the water in Strathclyde Country Park.

Emergency services raced to the scene around 10.50am this morning, following concern for the welfare of a man who's personal items were found on a small beach area near the car park.

With a police helicopter and dog unit called in to assist in the search.

Unfortunately, a short time later, a man's body was recovered from the water.

Police remain at the scene, with enquiries ongoing to identify the deceased.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.50 am this morning, Thursday, 7 May, 2020, police were called to Strathclyde Park, Lanarkshire, following concern for the welfare of a man who's personal items had been found on a small beach near the car park.

"Emergency services, including the police helicopter and the dog unit, attended and a short time later, a man's body was recovered from the water.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to identify the deceased."
