Body of man 'found in van' close to New Brighton Harvester restaurant

The body of a man was found in a van close to New Brighton promenade.

Merseyside Police were called to Kings Parade in Wallasey on Wednesday, to reports of a concern for a man in a vehicle.

Police and paramedics attended shortly before 3.40pm, and the man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

People in the area reported seeing a number of police vehicles parked up outside The Derby Pool Harvester Restaurant following the sad discovery this evening.

The man's death is not being treated suspicious at this time, police said.

Enquires are ongoing to formally identify him and inform his next of kin.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers attended Kings Parade in Wallasey following reports of concern for a man in a vehicle today (Wednesday 28 April).

"Officers and paramedics attended just before 3.40pm, and the man in his 40s was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Police are not treating his death as suspicious at this time.

"Enquires are ongoing to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin."
