The body of a man was found in undergrowth near a retail park this afternoon.
Merseyside Police have cordoned off an area of overgrown land on Parr Street in St Helens after the man was found dead on Sunday, October 2, at around 2.50pm.
Police and forensic officers remain at the scene this evening as they continue their enquiries, with investigators seen placing a blue sheet over a section of metal fencing. A witness, who was in the area this afternoon, said they saw around nine police cars arriving at the scene, which is opposite KFC on Central Retail Park.
The man has not yet been formally identified and his age is yet to be confirmed.
Merseyside Police said the man's death is not initially being treated as suspicious. A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
