Body of man found in search for missing Team GB runner Chris Smith

The body of a man has been found in the search for missing Team GB runner Chris Smith.

Police have confirmed a body has been discovered near to Meall Garbh in the Glenlyon area around 11.50am this morning.

While formal identification is yet to take place, police say the family of Chris Smith, 43, have been informed.

We told how a frantic search had been launched after Chris was reported missing.

He was last seen in Invervar near Aberfeldy at around 3pm on Tuesday when he set off on a run.

The dad-of-two said he was going running in Meall nan Aighean, Carn Mairg and Carn Gorm and was expected home at around 5pm.

Chris, originally from Aberdeenshire, lives in Haywards Heath in Sussex, is an experienced fell runner.

Police say enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
