Cops have launched a probe after the body of a man was found in the grounds of a major Scots hospital.

Emergency services were called to reports of a 61-year-old man found dead at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary around 2.15am on Thursday January 20.

Officers say his death is not suspicious but are treating it as unexplained.

It is understood officers are still on the scene and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 2.15 am on Thursday, 20 January 2022, a 61-year-old man was found dead within the grounds of Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Castle Street, Glasgow.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
