Body of man found in Manchester parkland

A man's body has been discovered in north Manchester.

The discovery was made in Blackley shortly after 9am this morning (Thursday).

"Police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man in Herristone Park" Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said in a statement.

"Officers attended and sadly found the body of a man.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances at this time."

No further details about the man or the incident have so far been disclosed.

There was a large emergency service presence in the area this morning, including a large number of police vehicles parked on Blackley New Road, close to a footpath that leads into some woodland.
