It is understood the man had hidden himself in the landing gear of the Airbus A320 before take-off from Tangier.

Sussex Police said it has launched an investigation into what had happened.

Further details about the man’s identity have not been released.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police were called after the body of a man was found in the undercarriage of an aircraft at Gatwick Airport, arriving from Tangier, at about 11.45am on Tuesday, June16.
