A body was found in grassland in County Durham on New Year's Day.
Durham Constabulary officers were called to reports that a body had been found in a grassed area near East Mount Road, in Darlington, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Paramedics also attended and sadly confirmed an elderly gentleman deceased at the scene.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary confirmed that an investigation was launched by officers into the man's death and that his family has been informed.
They said: "An extensive investigation has been undertaken including officers searching the local area to establish the circumstances of the man’s death which is currently being treated as unexplained.
"The man’s family have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this time."
