Body of man found in Firth of Forth named by cops

The body of a man pulled from the Firth of Forth in Fife has been identified by police.

Michael Sharpe, from Bonnybridge in Falkirk, was discovered on Friday March, 19.

The 22-year-old's death is not being treated as suspicious.

Days before he was found, clothes were found on the Forth Road Bridge in South Queensferry, sparking a huge search operation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers who were appealing for information to help identify the body of a young man that was recovered from the Firth of Forth at Burntisland on Friday, 19 March, have now concluded their enquiries.

The body has been confirmed as that of 22-year-old Michael Sharp from the Bonnybridge area.

"His family are devastated by their loss, Michael was a much loved family member, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
