Body of man found in dock finally identified

The body of a man found in the dock has been identified according to police.

The victim was pulled from the water in the Salthouse Dock, Liverpool city centre on Friday, March 25, and Merseyside Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the location following reports of a body being spotted in the water. Police cordoned off the scene, close to Albert Dock, while the man was pulled from the water and pronounced dead.

The incident sparked a huge emergency services response with dozens of police vehicles and a coastguard search and rescue unit being deployed to the cordon.

A spokesperson for the force told the ECHO the following week that "enquiries are still ongoing to find the identity of the deceased". But now a spokesperson has confirmed they have identified the man and are passing his details over to the coroner.
