Body of man found in car outside Iceland supermarket in retail park

The body of a man has been found at an Iceland car park, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to Somercotes, Derbys, at 3.50am today by a member of the public who had found the man inside a car at the retail park, Derbyshire Live reports.

A spokesperson at the force said: "We are investigating the circumstances of his death and officers remain at the scene."

Police said the vehicle is in the Iceland car park, near Poundstretcher and B&M.

The retail park is closed while an investigation is carried out.

No cause of death has been confirmed at this stage.

Derbyshire Live says that shops near the scene are currently closed while the police investigate the death.

In a post on Facebook, one person wrote: "Police incident at B&M car park, no entry into car park or shops."

Workers from the nearby shops have said that they are allowed to stay inside but cannot go into the car park.

Forensic officers are working within the police cordon and supermarket staff are being released from the cordon.

However an officer at the scene says that it will be at least a couple of hours before the car park and the stores are able to reopen.

Two silver cars and a police vehicle remain parked within the cordon.
