Body of man found in brook as emergency services cordon off area

The body of a man has been recovered from a brook in St Helens.

Emergency services were called to Brookway Lane in the town on Saturday, January 23, following reports that the body of a man had been found in water close by.

Several police vehicles were seen in the area and a cordon was put in place.

Formal identification is yet to take place and police are awaiting the results of a post mortem.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we were contacted at 11.50am on Saturday 23 rd January following reports the body of a man had been found in water close to Brookway Lane in St Helens.

"The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Formal identification is still to take place and we are still awaiting the results of a post mortem."
