Body of man found in Bellshill river as police investigate 'unexplained death'

The body of a man has been found in a river in Bellshill, police have confirmed.

The 53-year-old was discovered in the River Calder at around 10.15am yesterday morning.

Police are now investigating the 'unexplained death', and say his family have been made aware.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a 53-year-old man was found in the River Calder in Belshill around 10.15am on Monday, March 30.

"His next of kin are aware.

"His death is being treated as unexplained, pending the outcome of a post mortem examination.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
