The body of a man has been found hanging near a famous children's attraction in New York City's Central Park.
Police were called to the scene on Sunday morning after a passerby spotted the body around 6am.
It was discovered near the Alice in Wonderland statue, which is a popular attraction for children near East 74th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Pictures showed nine officers standing around what appeared to be a corpse covered in black plastic.
It is not clear how long the body had been there before police arrived or who discovered the body.
According to the New York Post, the man was in his 40s and is believed to have been homeless.
The Post reported the man was in his 40s, wearing a black sweatshirt, sneakers, and jeans, and believed to be homeless.
Stacey Feldman, 59, told the Post: "We were taking our normal walk in Central Park and then we saw all these cop cars.
Michael Gunzberg, 59, added: "It makes you realize how fragile people’s lives are."
The Alice in Wonderland Statue has been at the famous park since 1959 and shows Alice enjoying the Madhatter's Tea Party with her friends.
It was donated by philanthropist George Delacorte as a gift to the children of New York City.
