Body of man found as Kilmarnock police appeal to find his identity

Police in Ayrshire are appealing for information after a man was found on the Western Road in Kilmarnock and pronounced dead.

The incident happened around 4.05pm on Thursday, April 16 after a man was found lying on the road, opposite Knockinlaw Road.

The Scottish Ambulance Service and local officers attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post mortem.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man. He is described as around 50 years old with an average build, a grey/ginger shaved head bald at the top with a moustache and beard.

He also has some scarring on the top of his head and was wearing navy Nike jogging bottoms, a black Nike hooded running top, navy Adidas T-shirt, navy Adidas beanie hat and black Adidas trainers.

Detective Sergeant Gary White, of Kilmarnock CID, said: "We're currently trying to identify the man and are appealing to anyone who may have information about him or his movements on Thursday, April 16."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2453 of April 16 2020.
