Body of man discovered on rural road outside of Glandore, Co Cork

Gardai have launched an investigation after the body of a man was discovered in West Cork overnight.

The body of the man in his 50s was found on the R597 road heading into Glandore during the night.

The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated.

It is believed emergency services arrived at the scene and performed CPR but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The R579 has been closed for the morning as gardai carry out a forensic investigation.
