Body of man discovered in Bristol after public raise alarm over welfare

A body of a man has been discovered on The Downs at Clifton.

Police were called at 11.20 am today (Thursday, May 6) to the Circular Road area of The Downs by a member of the public following concerns for the safety of a person.

Police, fire crews and ambulance attended and a man was found dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 11.20am this morning (Thursday 6 May) by a member of the public regarding a concern for the welfare of a person at the Downs, Clifton.

“Police and ambulance attended and sadly a man was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

“The death is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
