Police have confirmed that a 52-year-old was found at around 8.20pm on Tourhill Road in the town.
A post mortem will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death but officers say that it is not being treated as suspicious.
Police cars and an ambulance raced to the scene last night with part of the street taped off, one eyewitness says.
