Body of man, 50s, found in laneway in Cork city centre as gardai launch investigation

A middle aged man was found dead on in Cork City on Tuesday evening.

The body of the man, aged in his 50s, was found on the Carey's Lane in the city centre at around 7pm.

Gardai and other emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is to be carried out.

It is not believed that the death of the man is being treated as suspicious at this time.
