Body of man, 46, found within parked car on layby close to Ayr's Holmston Roundabout

Police have confirmed the death of a man who was found in a layby beside one of Ayr's busiest roads.

The body of the 46-year-old was discovered around 6pm yesterday within a parked car on the A77 near Holmston Roundabout.

Police closed the road for a number of hours while carrying out enquiries.

The road has since reopened but they remain at the scene this morning.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called to the A77, near Holmston Roundabout at Ayr, around 6pm on Saturday, 25 July, by the ambulance service following the sudden death of a 46-year-old man.

"The man had been found within a parked car in a layby and the road was closed while officers carried out enquiries at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
