Body of man, 32, found in flat being treated as 'unexplained'

Tests are set to take place to determine what caused the death of a man whose body was found in a flat.

Emergency services were called to Woolton in the early hours of Saturday morning following the discovery of a man who was unresponsive.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police patrols had called for medical support after being made aware of the condition of the man , who was found at a property in Whitney Road at around 2am.

Merseyside Police retained a presence at the scene, which was examined by forensics officers on Saturday.

The force has confirmed a 32-year-old man was found dead and that his next of kin have been informed.

Toxicology tests and a post mortem have not yet been completed and it is hoped they will reveal the cause of death, which police are currently treating as "unexplained".

The police presence had been removed from the street by Sunday.
