Body of man, 30s, recovered from water in Co Mayo

The body of a man in his 30s was recovered from the water in Mayo on Sunday.

Gardaí in Westport are investigating all off the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovery at The Quay, Westport.

The discovery was made by a passer-by who raised the alarm shortly before 9am.

The man’s body was removed from the water and taken to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital.

The local Coroner was notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow morning.

A Garda spokesman: “Investigating Gardaí are not currently treating the death as suspicious but will await the outcome of a post-mortem to determine the course of their investigation.
