Body of 'homeless' man, 30s, found in Cork city centre

The body of a man in his thirties has been found in Cork city centre this lunchtime.

The man, believed to be homeless, was found by a passersby at Penrose Quay.

Gardai confirmed they are investigating the incident but it is not being treated as suspicious.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating the sudden death of a man in his 30s that occurred on Penrose Quay at approximately 12 midday.

"The investigation is ongoing and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

This is the second death of its kind in Cork city centre in the space of just five days.

On Friday morning the body of a young man - in his thirties - was found by staff at Parnell Place bus stop.

Gardai were called and the area - at the back of the station under the canopy roof - was sealed off.
