Body of elderly Scots woman pulled from Firth of Forth

An elderly woman's body has been recovered from the Firth of Forth.

Cops were called to the Longniddry area of East Lothian after concerns for a woman were raised around 11:15pm on Monday, February 6.

A search was carried out in the Firth of Forth by police and coastguard before a 73-year-old was pulled from the water.

Tragically she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report has now been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Police Scotland say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were made aware of concern for a woman in the Longniddry area around 11.15pm.

"The body of the 73-year-old was sadly recovered from the Firth of Forth following a search by police and coastguard.

“She was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
