Body of 18-year-old recovered from water at Scots country park

The body of an 18-year-old has been recovered from the water at a Scots country park.

Police rushed to the scene at Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie shortly after 6pm on Saturday, March 19.

Witnesses reported seeing the emergency services, including fire service vehicles with boats attached, race up Strathblane Road.

Mugdock Road was closed in both directions and it's understood a National Resilience and Risk Department vehicle also attended.

Tragically, the body of an 18-year-old man was recovered with the assistance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death but it is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a person in water at Mugdock Country Park shortly after 6pm on Saturday, 19 March.

“The body of an 18-year-old man was subsequently recovered with the assistance of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances but the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
