Body of 17-year-old boy found at his home in Tonypandy

Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy after his body was found at his home on Tuesday.

Officers from South Wales Police were called to an address in Clydach, Tonypandy, at 6.20pm following reports of a sudden death.

Police said they are treating the death as unexplained but said there appears to be no suspicious circumstances.

In a statement, a spokesman from South Wales Police said: "At around 6.20pm on Tuesday 11th August South Wales Police officers were called to an address in Clydach, Tonypandy following the report of a sudden death.

"The body of a 17 year-old boy was discovered at his home address. Officers are treating the death as unexplained at this time, although there appear to be no suspicious circumstances."

The teenager has been named locally as Leo Rees. A number of tributes have been paid to him on social media which you can read about here.

In a separate incident, also in the Rhondda, police are investigating a sudden death in Cymmer after a body was found on High Street shortly after 6am on Wednesday.
