Body in Water of Leith identified as missing 24-year-old Arkadiusz Blicharz

Police have confirmed that a body of a man found in the Water of Leith earlier today is that of Arkadiusz Blicharz.

The 24-year-old was reported missing by officers in Edinburgh on Wednesday evening after he was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 4).

According to police, his last known whereabouts were in the Gorgie/Dalry area at around 3am, before his body was discovered this morning.

On Thursday (October 8), the bridge that crosses the Water of Leith near Murrayfield Stadium was cordoned off after a team of local litter pickers found the body in the river.

In a statement by Police Scotland this afternoon, it was confirmed that the body was that of Arkadiusz Blicharz, with no suspicious circumstances.

His family have been made aware.

The full statement read: "We can confirm that the body found at the Water of Leith near Saughtonhall Avenue, Edinburgh, on Thursday, 8 October, has been identified as 24-year-old Arkadiusz Blicharz, who had been reported missing in the area.

"His family have been made aware.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
