Investigations are continuing into a third day after human remains were found in woodland near Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police said forensic examinations have been taking place and identifying the person who died will take some time.

Officers had been called to woodland near Whittock Square, Stockwood, at around 9.50am on Sunday (November 14) after human remains were discovered.

A cordon was put in place while forensic experts worked at the scene on Monday. A police dog team were also called to search the woodland.

On Tuesday, a number of police vehicles were at the scene - including one labelled Scientific Investigations.

A spokesman for police said: "The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"Work to establish the identity of the deceased is likely to take some time."

A forensic team has joined the dogs unit at Stockwood Open Space.
