Body found on Scots hillside as police launch probe into death

A body has been found on a Scots hillside.

Police were alerted to the discovery on Benarty Hill near Ballingry in Fife at 10.20am on Wednesday February 23.

Images from the scene of the incident show a wooded section of the area taped off by police.

It is understood Mountain Rescue Teams are also in attendance. Officers investigating the death say inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

They do, however, say there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 10.20am on Wednesday, February 23, we received a report of a body on Benarty Hill near Ballingry. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage.”
