Body found on Isle of Wight confirmed as missing Glasgow woman Rosie Johnson

Police have confirmed that a body found on the Isle of Wight does belong to missing Glasgow woman Rosie Johnson.

A major search was launched on the island after Rosie, who worked in a holiday camp in Wootton, disappeared on Sunday, June 23.

Officers discovered a body of a woman on Friday and an identification process took place.

Hampshire Police have since confirmed that it belongs to the 22-year-old woman.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Rosie, a University of Glasgow graduate, is the niece of Daniel Johnson, Labour MSP for Edinburgh Southern.

Posting on Twitter after her body was found, the MSP wrote: "The information from the Police this afternoon is clearly deeply upsetting.

"I thank everyone for their continued messages of support.

"Our thoughts must be with Rosie’s immediate family and I ask that their privacy is respected."

Rosie was working at the 50-acre PGL Little Canada holiday camp which is located on the inlet. The Glasgow University zoology graduate had been at the camp since February.

Rosie's family is being supported by Hampshire Constabulary.

Her distraught family said she had gone for a walk and spoke to her mum just hours before disappearing.
