Body found on Hove beach in Adelaide

Police at Hove beach where the body was found this morning.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was found on a beach in Adelaide's south this morning, police say.

The 86-year-old southern suburbs woman's body was discovered by a member of the public just before 7:30am on the sand near the water's edge at Hove, north of the Brighton Jetty.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.

Earlier, Senior Constable Mick Abbott said Southern District detectives and crime scene examiners were examining the scene.

"It's an unfortunate incident so we are going through the process now to determine whether it is suspicious," he said.

Police have cordoned off a section of the beach, and State Emergency Service volunteers have arrived to assist.
