Body found on Blackpool beach as police vans rush to Promenade

A man's body has been found after emergency services rushed to a beach in Blackpool.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of a body being discovered off the promenade, near Blackpool Tower, shortly before 6.30am today (May 25). A large cordon was put in place between North Pier and Central Pier.

Photographs taken at the scene show a number of police vehicles and an ambulance on the Comedy Carpet while the adjacent beach was also taped off.

The cordon has since been removed, Lancs Live reports.

Lancashire Constabulary said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed. His name and age have not been released at this stage.

Officers say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounded his death. A file is to be passed to the coroner.

In a statement, the force said: "We were called at 6.27am today to a report that a body had been found on Blackpool beach, near to Blackpool Tower. Emergency services attended and very sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
