Body found on beach during search for missing 71-year-old Alan Hurley

A body has been found on a beach in Tywyn during the search for missing 71-year-old Alan Hurley.

Mr Hurley from Cardigan was reported missing over the weekend after his parked car was located in Aberporth car park near the Aberporth beach.

The maroon Grand Cherokee jeep is believed to have been there for several days.

Possible sightings and CCTV matching the 71-year-old's description show that Mr Hurley was last seen in the Aberporth area around 5am to 7am on Saturday, June 20.

After four days of searching, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a body had been found on a beach in Tywyn, Gwynedd.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but Mr Hurley's family have been informed.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Sadly we can confirm that the body of a male has been found on the beach in Tywyn during the search for Mr Alan Hurley.

"Formal identification has not yet taken place, however Mr Hurley’s family have been informed of this development. Our thoughts remain with the family."
