Body found on beach believed to be missing 29-year-old from Bolton

A teenager's body has been found on a beach in Lancashire following a major search operation.

It's thought to be that of a 29-year-old from Bolton who was reported missing, LancsLive reports.

The body was discovered on Rossal Beach on Saturday night following a five hour search operation involving police the coastguard and the police helicopter.

It came after police received reports of a man entering the water at the beach, between Thornton-Cleveleys and Fleetwood at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

Police confirmed that a body of a man was found on the beach at around 8.15pm.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "Emergency services including the police, the coastguard and NPAS carried out a comprehensive search.

"Just before 8.15pm a body was discovered on the beach.

"Although formal identification is yet to take place it is believed to be that of a 29-year-old man from Bolton. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Our thoughts remain with family and friends at this extremely distressing time."

NOTE: Lancashire Police initially said the man found was aged 19. They have now said he was 29 years old and the story has been changed to reflect that.
