Body found near farmland in Airdrie identified as missing man Thomas Faulds

Police have confirmed that a body found in Airdrie has been identified as that of missing Bellshill man Thomas Faulds.

Officers made the discovery near farmland in the Plains area around 2:15pm yesterday afternoon.

The family of the 52-year-old has been informed.

Police confirm there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.15pm on Sunday, 20 December, officers searching for a missing man discovered the body of a man near farmland in the Plains area of Airdrie.

“He has been identified as Thomas Faulds and his family has been informed. “There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
