Body found near Drumcondra railway tracks as Docklands station remains closed

A body has been found by the railway tracks in Drumcondra this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the Docklands station to deal with an incident on the line shortly after 8:30am.

The body was allegedly discovered by a woman who was walking up the Whitworth Road with her children.

The eye-witness is said to have seen someone lying wrapped up in a sleeping bag and rang an ambulance who confirmed the death.

Docklands Station will remain closed until further notice with services diverted into Connolly for the remainder of the morning.

In a statement to Dublin Live, a spokeswoman for Gardai said: "Gardaí can confirm that a male body (age unknown) has been recovered on the railway line in Drumcondra this morning Friday 6th September, 2019 at approximately 8.40am

"The body of the deceased has been removed to the city morgue where a post mortem will take place, in due course. 

"The investigation into this sudden death will be determined by the results of the post mortem and investigations are ongoing."
