A body was found in Cork city centre this afternoon.
Gardai have launched an investigation into the discovery, Cork Beo reports.
The body was located in a green area close to the River Lee.
The body, thought to be that of a man, was found in Mardyke at around 2pm.
It was close to an area being used as a tented village by homeless people.
"Gardaí received a report of a body by the banks of the River Lee in Mardyke Walk area of Cork city just before 2.30pm on August 13," a garda spokesperson said.
"A man, age unknown at present, was pronounced dead at the scene."
Gardaí are not treating the incident as suspicious.
