Body found in woods near cricket club in hunt for 'vulnerable' 20-year-old woman

A body has been found in the woods near a cricket club in the search for a vulnerable 20-year-old woman.

Amy Springer was reported missing from her home in Hove on Friday evening and officers launched an appeal to find her.

During their search, detectives found a body in woods near Portslade Cricket Club in Benfield Valley, Portslade, West Sussex.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but the body is believed to be that of Amy and her next of kin have been informed, Sussex Live reports.

There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner's officer is continuing enquiries, police said.

Residents were alerted to a heavy police presence earlier today near the cricket club where at least seven police cars were in attendance.

The area was cordoned off earlier today but officers then left, Sussex Live reports.

Heartbroken friends paid tribute to Amy following the discovery of the body.

One wrote on Facebook: "Rest in peace Amy Springer. Forever hold our memories from school in my heart."

Another added: "Rest in peace, beautiful."

Sussex Police issued an appeal for the missing "vulnerable" woman yesterday.

Amy was last seen wearing a dark coloured North Face jacket, dark joggers and slip-on shoes.

Police described the young woman as vulnerable and said her disappearance was out of character.
