Body found in water park in search for missing Christine Foster

Police searching for a missing woman say they have sadly found a body.

Christine Foster, 60, has been missing from Wigan since Tuesday, police said.

She was last seen at around 4.30pm on Greenslate Road in the Orrell area of the town.

Greater Manchester Police cordoned off Orrell Water Park in Wigan today as part of the search.

In a statement, the force confirmed a body was found in the water at the park shortly before 11am this morning.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, GMP added.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A file is being prepared for a coroner ahead of an inquest opening.

In a statement on Friday afternoon, Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers searching for missing person Christine Foster have sadly located a body in the water at Orrell Water Park in Wigan at around 10.50am today.

"A formal identification has not yet taken place.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
