Body found in water at power station in search for missing Wakefield schoolboy

A body has been found in water at a hydroelectric power station by a member of the public in the search for a missing teenager.

Elliot Burton, 15, was last seen in the Eastmoor area of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, at around 9.30am on Thursday.

He was wearing a Wakefield Trinity Wildcats vest and cream and brown shorts, reports Examiner Live.

Police said at the weekend that they were very concerned for his safety and welfare as the temperatures had dropped since the end of the week and into the weekend.

Fire crews were also taking part in the search.

Today police confirmed a body had been found as part of the ongoing search.

Officers were alerted to the discovery in Normanton at about 8.34am (Google)

They said officers were called to Boundary Lane, Normanton, at about 8.34am by a member of the public who had seen a male’s body in water.

West Yorkshire Police said enquiries are ongoing at the scene and Elliot’s family have been made aware of the development.

They added to the BBC that they don't believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
