Body found in water in Lanarkshire confirmed as missing man Jamie Waugh

The body of a man recovered from water near a Lanarkshire street has been confirmed as missing man Jamie Waugh.

Emergency services were called to Avon Water just off of Glen Avenue in Larkhall on Sunday night and recovered a body.

Police confirmed that the body has been formally identified as missing 29-year-old Jamie Waugh.

His family have been informed.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Jamie, from Larkhall, had not been seen since the end of January this year, with searches undertaken since then to find him.

He was last seen around 4am on Sunday, 31 January, 2021, when he left an address in Glen Avenue in the town.

A police statement read: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man recovered from water near to Glen Avenue, Larkhall on Sunday, 1 August, 2021 has been formally identified as missing man Jamie Waugh (29).

"His family have been informed.



"There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. A full report has be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
