The music world is reeling as the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) investigates a decomposing body found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to rising star D4vd (David Anthony Burke), known for his viral hit “Romantic Homicide.”
What happened to D4vd?
On Monday, September 8, 2025, workers at a Hollywood tow yard were alerted to a foul odor emanating from an impounded 2023 Tesla registered in Burke’s name. The vehicle had been towed to the lot roughly five days earlier after being reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills. Police responded shortly before 12:30 p.m. and discovered a human body, wrapped in a bag and concealed in the vehicle’s trunk.
The LAPD has launched a death investigation into the case. As of now, authorities have not revealed the identity of the deceased, nor commented on any connection between the victim and D4vd.
Forensic and toxicology tests are reportedly underway to determine the cause of death and timeline of the crime. Some reports note that the body was heavily decomposed and possibly chopped up, though these details are pending confirmation by a medical examiner.
Who Is D4vd?
D4vd (pronounced “David”) is a 20-year-old singer-songwriter originally from Queens, New York, now associated with Houston, Texas. He broke through in 2022 with his singles “Romantic Homicide” and “Here with Me,” both of which went viral on TikTok and earned him a recording contract. His debut studio album, Withered, was released on April 25, 2025. He is currently on his Withered world tour, with recent shows in Chicago and upcoming stops in Minneapolis and Los Angeles.
To date, no official statement has been issued by D4vd or his representatives about the human remains, although several media outlets have requested comment. D4vd himself has continued his social media activity, including promoting the forthcoming deluxe version of Withered, scheduled for release on September 19, 2025. One fan’s social media comment said, “D4vd say it ain’t so,” seemingly referring to the case.
