Police searching for missing teenager Kieran Ritchie have found a body.
Kieran, 19, was last seen in the area of Evistones Gardens, Walker on Monday afternoon walking in the direction of the River Tyne.
Police had described him as "high risk" and launched an urgent search for him.
Now officers have confirmed they have recovered a body which officers believe to be that of Kieran.
The next of kin have been informed and officers are supporting his friends and family at what is an incredibly difficult time.
There is believed to be no third party involvement.
Northumbria Police have thanked everyone who have helped with the search for missing Kieran and have asked that they respect the family's privacy at this difficult time.
