A body has been found in the search for Dean Langley who went missing from his home in Sunderland.
Officers have been searching for the 26-year-old since he was reported missing from Bournmoor, near Houghton-le-Spring , on Tuesday night.
Police issued a public appeal on Wednesday morning in a bid to try and bring him home with both his family and police becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.
But police have now confirmed a body of a man has been found in County Durham.
Although a formal identification has yet to take place, it is believed to be Dean.
Officers are currently supporting his family at this difficult time and a report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
