Body found in the River Taff after man seen entering the water near Cardiff's Principality Stadium

Police are working to recover a body from the River Taff.

South Wales Police received reports that a body had been spotted in the river in Cardiff on Saturday, September 5, at around 6.40pm.

Officers said a "multi-agency operation is under way to recover a body".

They added that they've not yet identified the body but a man was seen in the water near the Principality Stadium on Tuesday, August 25.

Police say the man's family have been informed.

Emergency services were called to reports after someone had entered the water at around 8.40am on Tuesday, August 25.

At the time a spokeswoman for South Wales Police said they had had reports that it happened near the Principality Stadium.

Pictures from the scene showed police searching the river by boat and more emergency service teams on the embankment.

On social media, South Wales Police said: "A multi-agency operation is under way to recover a body from the River Taff.

"South Wales Police received a report of a body in the river near Ferry Court, Grangetown, at around 6.40pm this evening (Saturday, September 5)."

They added: "The body has yet to be identified as recovery is still underway, however, the family of a man who was seen entering the water near the Principality Stadium on August 25, have been informed of the development."
